Belfast, Northern Ireland – A teenage girl has tragically died after falling ill at the Emerge dance festival in south Belfast on Sunday, while two other attendees are being treated in hospital.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that officers were called following reports of a sudden death. The teenager, believed to be in her late teens, became seriously unwell at the festival held in Boucher Playing Fields before passing away in hospital.
Authorities also stated that a young man and a woman in her 30s were admitted to hospital after experiencing medical emergencies at the same event. Their conditions remain under medical supervision.
The Emerge festival, which attracts thousands of music fans each year, was underway when the incidents occurred. Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and the other hospitalisations.
Officials have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, while festival organisers expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
